What is ukca?
Ukca, the full name of United Kingdom conformance assessed, is a new product certification launched after brexit. Electronic and electrical products entering the UK market need to pass the standard test under British regulations and obtain ukca certification certificate. The products are marked with ukca mark to replace the use of EU CE mark in the UK market.
Ukca is the abbreviation of UK conformity assessed. On February 2, 2019, the British government announced that it would adopt the ukca logo scheme without brexit agreement. After March 29, trade with the UK will be conducted in accordance with the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The British government announced the launch of a new conformity mark ukca (representing the UK conformity assessment). When certain products such as automobiles, aerospace, pharmaceutical products, medical devices, chemicals, and articles subject to regulatory control (non coordinated articles) are sold in the UK market after brexit, they will not be allowed to continue to use EU norms and compliance marks.
Ukca execution time:
● before January 1, 2021
Products put on the UK market can continue to use the EU CE mark without updating the mark.
● from January 1, 2021
Ukca flag can be used.
● before February 2021
During the one-year transition period, the market can still use the CE mark, but it needs to transition gradually.
● from January 1, 2022
The UK will not recognize the CE mark. Products need to comply with relevant UK rules and carry ukca mark before they can be sold in the UK.
Ukca opening date:
As we all know, the UK has left the EU and is in the transition period of brexit, which will end at the end of 2020. According to the announcement of the British government on September 1, the ukca logo will be officially opened for use from January 1, 2021. Most products currently under the control of CE mark must be affixed with ukca mark if they are to be exported to the UK market (England, Wales and Scotland).
Ukca will be used as a compulsory access mark for products in the UK market. For most products, the CE mark will no longer be used as an access mark for the UK market after January 1, 2022. All relevant products must comply with British Standards beginning with "BS". Based on the above announcement, enterprises that continue to export products to the UK market (England, Wales and Scotland) need to act as soon as possible!
Comparison between ukca regulation and EU regulation:
UK importers need to ensure that products entering the UK market have conformity assessment technical documents, UK doc and manufacturer doc, and the company name, address, contact information and ukca logo of UK importers need to be marked on the products.
